The 16th Annual Undergraduate Medical Research Conference was held on March 15-16, 2023, at Peshawar Medical College under the leadership of Director Dr. Hala Rajab and UMR Society President Ms. Mariam Bibi. Centered on the theme “Transcending in Research,” the conference attracted participation from medical institutions across Pakistan and featured 121 research projects, including 75 poster presentations and 27 verbal competitions.
The conference was inaugurated by the chief guests Prof. Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Khan, Vice Chancellor of Tameer-e-Millat Shifa University, who encouraged students to pursue impactful and preventive research for the betterment of society. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Irfan gave a plenary on the “Research Mentorship” discussing the important aspects of supervision and guidance of students through the research process. The closing ceremony was addressed by the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmad, Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University, who emphasized the importance of conducting purposeful research guided by the principles of the Quran and Sunnah. Prof. Dr. Hafeez ur Rahman, Dean of Peshawar Medical College, along with other senior faculty members, also graced the sessions.
In addition to the competitive categories, the conference featured skill-building stations on literature search, SPSS, questionnaire validation, and referencing, further enhancing the research capabilities of participating students. (Annex-5, 16th UMR Bulletin 2023)

The conference successfully underscored the enthusiasm and growing contributions of undergraduate researchers, fostering a spirit of collaboration and innovation in medical research across Pakistan.
External Conference Participation – November 28, 2023:
In 2023, students from Peshawar Medical College and Peshawar Dental College further demonstrated their research excellence through notable achievements at external conferences.
On November 28, 2023, students showcased their scholarly work at Wah University, where two research projects were presented:

These accomplishments highlight the growing impact of undergraduate research from Peshawar Medical College and Peshawar Dental College beyond institutional boundaries, reinforcing the success of the UMR program in fostering research dissemination and academic recognition at national platforms.
